Malestrum is back — and we're entering the Third Phase.
After a hiatus (and Barry's knee replacement), Barry and Griffin return with a reframed conversation. The old model of life was three phases: education, career, retirement. But there's another Third Phase unfolding right now — the one that follows agriculture, industrialization, and the internet: artificial intelligence. And it's reshaping how every generation works, learns, connects, and thinks.
In this episode, a 74-year-old lifelong entrepreneur and his 24-year-old technologist son talk through what that shift actually means — across careers, relationships, education, and the widening gap between the haves and have-nots.
We get into:
Why AI is hitting Gen Z, millennials, and Gen X differently
The K-shaped economy and lessons from history's great disruptions
Whether universal income is a real answer or a convenient story
Why everyone — at 20 or 80 — may need to become their own portable brand
A first look at our two ventures: Breakwater (AI strategy and advisory) and Lune Synth (an adaptive, space-themed learning platform)
Going forward, we're broadening beyond our original focus on masculinity into a wider conversation about thriving in 2026. New episodes roughly weekly, plus essays and something experimental we'll share soon.
Thanks for your patience. Glad to be back.
